Lucille

I have no idea why I am writing this.

I'm starting with Lucille. She called me today at work. Her electricity is getting turned off tomorrow. When that happens, she is going to be evicted from her apartment. She has a daughter whose father is in jail and has stopped paying child support. She was obviously distraught and had no idea what to do.

My attempts to help her failed. I absolutely hate that I could not help her. I told her as much. She thanked me for my time and asked that I pray for her. I did as soon as I hung up the phone. It hardly seems like enough and I wonder what will happen to her tomorrow.

I don't know how Lucille got to the position of not being able to pay her electric bill and frankly, I don't care. As a disciple of Jesus, I feel it is my responsible to love her. It seems that I can only do that through prayer at this point, so that is what I will do.

Jesus, please don't let Lucille get evicted tomorrow.
